On the night of November 2nd to 3rd, 1957, something strange was reported on the lonely roads around Levelland, Texas.
Over the course of several hours, numerous motorists described encountering a strange, glowing or flaming object near the road. Some reported seeing the object sitting on or near the roadway, while others claimed that their vehicles suddenly lost power, stalled, or experienced electrical problems as the object approached.
One of the earliest and most notable witnesses was Pedro Saucedo, a farm worker who reported that a brilliant object approached his truck, causing his vehicle's lights and engine to fail. Other motorists subsequently contacted authorities with remarkably similar stories.
The reports eventually reached Sheriff Weir Clem, who personally investigated some of the claims. Clem himself reported seeing what he described as a streak of light or fiery object moving across the area.
What makes Levelland particularly fascinating is that this wasn't simply a single person's strange experience. Multiple witnesses, police officers, contemporary newspapers, and investigators became involved.
The incident soon attracted the attention of the U.S. Air Force's Project Blue Book, which investigated the reports and ultimately proposed a conventional explanation involving severe weather and atmospheric conditions.
"The truth is out there... but the evidence comes first."
