UFO Slice

During the early-to-mid 1980s, something extraordinary was being reported across New York's Hudson Valley and into Connecticut.
Hundreds, and eventually thousands, of people reported seeing enormous V-shaped or boomerang-shaped formations of lights moving across the night sky. Witnesses described brilliant white, red, green and other coloured lights, with some claiming the object appeared to hover, move silently and change direction in ways they found difficult to explain. The major wave of reports occurred particularly from 1983 through 1984, with sightings continuing into the following years.
The reports attracted the attention of UFO investigator Philip J. Imbrogno, who worked with astronomer Dr. J. Allen Hynek and investigators associated with the Center for UFO Studies. Witness accounts were collected and investigated, eventually contributing to the 1987 book Night Siege: The Hudson Valley UFO Sightings, written by Hynek, Imbrogno and journalist Bob Pratt.
There were also photographs, videotape, newspaper reports, police observations and hundreds of witness accounts, giving us a substantial historical record to examine. Night Siege itself included photographs and sequential video frames, including a photograph attributed to a law-enforcement official.
So what was actually flying over the Hudson Valley?
A huge unknown craft? Aircraft flying in formation? A mixture of conventional and unexplained sightings? Or something else entirely?
