On the evening of October 11, 1973, Charles Hickson (42) and Calvin Parker (19), co-workers at a local shipyard, were fishing off a pier on the west bank of the Pascagoula River. They heard a whirring or whizzing sound and saw an oval-shaped object, approximately 30–40 feet long and 8–10 feet high, with flashing blue lights, hovering above the ground. The craft emitted a bright light, and three humanoid creatures, about 5 feet tall, emerged. These beings had gray, wrinkled skin, "robotic slit-mouths," and "crab-like pincers" or claws, with some descriptions noting carrot-like growths near their nose and ear areas. The men reported being paralyzed but conscious as the creatures floated them aboard the craft.
