In December 1980, something strange happened in the skies and woodland surrounding RAF Bentwaters and RAF Woodbridge in Suffolk, England. What began as reports of unusual lights in Rendlesham Forest would become one of the most controversial and talked-about UFO incidents in British history.
In the early hours of 26 December, US Air Force security personnel reported mysterious lights near the East Gate of RAF Woodbridge. When a patrol entered the forest to investigate, they reportedly encountered something extraordinary: a strange, glowing object described as metallic and triangular in shape.
But that was only the beginning.
In the days that followed, reports emerged of unusual indentations in the ground, damaged branches, radiation readings and further unexplained lights moving through the forest.
Among the most important pieces of evidence is a memorandum written by US Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Charles Halt, dated 13 January 1981. His report, titled Unexplained Lights, documented the events and described observations made during a subsequent investigation in the forest.
Even more intriguing is the audio recording made by Halt during that investigation, capturing his team's reactions and observations as events unfolded.
